I Documented People Of Moc Chau Enjoying Tet Holiday

Moc Chau, on the Son La Plateau is the largest and most beautiful plateau in the northern mountains. It has a monsoon climate. It is famous for many tourist attractions such as Doi Hang, Moc Chau pine forests, Thai Hung waterfall, Dai Yem waterfall, the pine forests of Ang village, Dong Sang, Ngu Dong of On Village to name a few. Especially beautiful are the tea hills and grazing lands of Moc Chau. A farm town are impressive landscapes, together with the communities of ethnic minorities such as Thai, H’mong.

For the H’mong, New Year’s Day is the first day of the 12th lunar month. Celebrations usually takes place around the village commons in places such as Long Luong, Tan Lap, Long Sap, Chieng Xuan, Chieng Son, Phien Canh and Pa Phach. Everywhere is full of bustling celebration and an atmosphere of anticipation of the coming

At this time, the H’mong people spend 15 days enjoying Tet holiday. They wear new clothes and go to the field or large areas to gather with their friends and families. Children in their new clothes, play with folk toys such as spinning tops, and throwing balls.

Older children and men gather to drink while women dance the traditional dances of their ethnic groups.

Filling in the cold atmosphere, the fields of Chinese cabbage and buckwheat flowers run along the hillsides, stretching into the distance in the middle of thousands of blooming plum trees which dot the entire valley. Combined with the colorful traditional clothes of the H’mong people it creates a special place that can be found nowhere else.
